The Isle of Man Meat Company says it remains dedicated to supporting the island’s agricultural sector and ensuring long-term food security.
Isle of Man Meats says it is “pleased to report that livestock numbers are now increasing and are expected to return to normal levels over the coming weeks”.
It is expecting this to continue through the Christmas period and beyond.
Lack of Meat
Last week, Lee Mayers Butchers has been left with no choice other than to buy UK meat following delays from the government owned IOM Meats.
The butcher said he has had to turn customers away as he’s been receiving his orders from IOM Meats later than requested, which wasn’t leaving him with enough time to prepare the meat for sale.
In response to Mr Mayers plea, Michael Barker, General Manager of Isle of Man Meats said: “Open communication with our stakeholders remains central to how we operate, and we are committed to strengthening this further as we move forward.
“We have been in direct contact with Mr Mayers to discuss how to alleviate any further issues and we are working together to achieve this.”
