The average time patients spend at Noble’s A&E rose to over five hours in January, the health minister has said.
Claire Christian was asked for average waiting times and whether bed availability had been an issue by Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew).
Ms Christian said that the average total time spent by patients at Nobles hospitals emergency department rose from 266 minutes in November to 315 in January .
January also saw the average triage time reach 25 minutes against a target of 15 minutes.
Ms Christian added that Manx Care is working on an improvement programme and said it still compares favourable to many hospitals in the UK.
She said: “Over the past three months, the proportion of patients admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours of attending nobles ED has ranged from 60% to 61% and during the same period, the corresponding rate for a major A&E department in England ranged from 55% to 58%.”
