Islanders Recognised at Praxis Care’s Inaugural Success Awards

Praxis Care has held its first Celebrating Success Awards in the Isle of Man, recognising the personal achievements of people with learning disabilities and autism who use its services.

The ceremony, held at the Ramsey Park Hotel on July 9, brought together more than 100 nominees, families, friends and support staff.

The awards, long established in Praxis Care’s other regions, were hosted on the island for the first time, with 22 individuals nominated by their support teams.

Inaugural Awards

Among those recognised was Louise, who has made major strides in independence and wellbeing, from quitting smoking to expanding her diet and developing new cooking and baking skills.

Another finalist, Robbie, a veteran, was praised for his discipline in managing diabetes and staying active despite significant mobility challenges.

The awards, held during Disability Pride Month, aimed to highlight resilience, personal growth and community contribution.

Categories included Community Award, Co‑production, Praxis Talent, Mastery Milestone and Health & Wellbeing, with a special Resilience Award added for the inaugural Isle of Man event.

Grainne Close, Director of Care & Development NI & Isle of Man, said the awards were an opportunity to “truly listen and recognise the people we support,” adding that each nominee’s story reflected courage, determination and hope.
