Tim Johnston will seek re-election in Ayre & Michael, stressing day‑to‑day constituency work and the relationships he says underpin effective local politics on the island.
He highlights regular surgeries, close contact with parish authorities and what he describes as a pragmatic approach shaped by years of self‑employment.
Johnston points to his role chairing Manx Utilities during the 2022/23 energy‑price spike, and his work with the Department for Enterprise’s Business Agency as local sectors faced rising costs after the pandemic and the Russia‑Ukraine conflict.
The most contentious moment of his term came in early 2023, when he became the sixth Enterprise Minister in 16 months.
Johnston acknowledges he had pledged not to join the Council of Ministers, but says the instability at the time made it necessary and in the national interest.
He says the department is now delivering consistently and that he wants to continue representing Ayre & Michael with the same accessibility and community focus he has prioritised over the last five years.
Stephen Broad, Mary Phillips, Julia Bell and Paul Weatherall have previously declared their intention to stand in the election.
Sitting MHK Alf Cannan has not announced his intention.
