Kayaker Rescued From Gansey

Port Erin Coastguard says a kayaker was rescued this afternoon after their inflatable craft capsized in offshore winds at Gansey Point.

The individual, who was not wearing a buoyancy aid or life jacket, ended up in the water for almost an hour before another kayaker managed to assist them back towards shore.

Port St Mary Lifeboat crew were first to arrive, giving first aid and requesting support from the Coastguard team on land.

Coastguards say the casualty was showing clear signs of hypothermia and water ingestion.

They were evacuated by stretcher across rocks, where Isle of Man Ambulance Service paramedics met them for further care.

The Coastguard team has wished the casualty a speedy recovery.
