The House of Keys meets this morning at 10am with members set to press ministers on issues ranging from immigration processes to major infrastructure spending.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will ask Treasury what consideration has been given to replacing the island’s wet‑ink visa, before later seeking updates from Infrastructure on social housing rent thresholds, the future extension of the Douglas horse tramway to the Sea Terminal, and whether rent books are issued to new social housing tenants.
He will also ask the Chief Minister what thought has been given to introducing an age limit for access to social media.
Spending
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper will question Infrastructure on what authorisation has been sought for spending above the Tynwald approved budget on the Isle of Man Ferry Terminal in Liverpool, and separately ask Treasury how much funding has been set aside for legal and professional fees relating to the dispute surrounding the project.
He will also ask Infrastructure to set out the nature of that dispute.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge will ask Treasury what mechanisms are in place to ensure that subsidies for Loganair’s Isle of Man routes are not used to cross‑subsidise commercial expansion elsewhere.
Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson will question Infrastructure on the criteria used for closing the Mountain Road due to snow and ice, and will ask Health and Social Care what consideration Manx Care has given to introducing Jess’s Rule.
