A former employee of King Gaming Group has failed to have a £25,000 settlement agreement set aside by the Employment and Equality Tribunal.
Seng Hooi Yap had alleged misrepresentation and material breach of contract over his April 2025 settlement with Champion Tech Limited, which is in receivership following criminal proceedings against the wider group.
The Tribunal heard that Mr Yap had accepted the settlement after independent advice from the Manx Industrial Relations Service, dropping his original constructive dismissal claim.
During the hearing, Mr Yap withdrew an earlier allegation of fraudulent misrepresentation. The Tribunal noted that any such allegation was “groundless in any event.”
Mr Yap claimed he had been induced to settle based on representations about Champion’s financial position and argued that a 14-to-15-day delay in payment amounted to a material breach.
The panel concluded there was no misrepresentation and no fundamental breach of contract. It said the Receivers had made “every reasonable effort to comply with their obligations”.
