Second Club to Build on Inclusivity in Football

After becoming the island’s first pan-disability team, Onchan AFC is inspiring inclusive football across the island.

The club’s pioneering side, launched in summer 2025 with support from the English FA Journey to Inclusion Fund.

Equipment including Bazooka Goals, cones and footballs, presented by Isle of Man FA Disability Football Ambassador Pete Corkhill last Friday, is now in full use at the club which trains each week.

An Isle of Man FA post said: “We will be excited to be visiting our second disability club in the coming weeks to hand over their equipment and look forward to seeing this programme continue to grow and expand across the island.”

The second club is set to receive identical starter resources. The move is part of a long-term strategy to build a multi-club disability football pathway for young people.

Club President David Quirk received the equipment on behalf of Onchan. Coaches Conner Thompson and Ben Melling continue to lead sessions, building on the groundwork laid alongside Brian Callow and Quirk.

The Isle of Man FA is now urging other clubs to follow suit: “If your club is interested in developing pan-disability or inclusive football opportunities, we would love to hear from you.”
