Lane finishes just behind seasoned darts pros

After qualifying outright on day 2 of the preliminary stages of the PDC’s Q School last week (January 9), Kirk Michael resident Kevin Lane went on to compete in the final stages finishing a respectable 71st on the order of merit.

Lane finished just below professional darts players Fallon Sherrock (64th) and above TV pundit and 3 time World Champion John “Dart Maple” Part (79th) .

Although this sadly wasn’t enough to see him earn a prestigious tour card and entry to the pro-tour events.

Lane had a good run on Day 3 of the event reaching the last 32 players and picking up 1 point and looked set to pick up more points on day 4 winning through to the last 64 in a 6-3 win against England’s Darryl Pilgrim.

After going 2-0 down in the match, Lane averaged a staggering 90.02 leaving Darryl in his wake.

His run was cut short though in his next match against two time BDO Worlds Darts Champion Scott “Scotty 2 Hotty” Waites in a disappointing 6-0 defeat.

Lane may feature on Sky TV

During the event held in Milton Keynes filming was underway for a recently commissioned three part documentary titled “Darts” for Sky.

The film crew closely followed Lane through the preliminary rounds and the finals in order to show the journey players take to make it onto the big events such as the World Championship held at Alexandra Palace each December.

Lane now goes on to compete in the PDC Challenge Tour,  competing in 24 events over the year, for another chance to win that coveted tour card.

The first 5 events taking place this weekend back in Milton Keynes, his progress can be followed at tv.dartconnect.com.
