Applications are now open for the Douglas Choral Union (DCU) Bursary, offering financial support to Isle of Man residents pursuing further education in drama, dance, music, or theatre.
The bursary, sponsored by DQ Advocates for the past 15 years, forms part of DCU’s commitment to nurturing Manx talent.
The society, the island’s longest-established theatre group, is known for its annual productions, including this year’s acclaimed Chicago at the Gaiety Theatre.
Gary Corkhill, Chairman of Douglas Choral Union, said: “Supporting young performers beyond the Island has always been something Douglas Choral Union is passionate about, and it’s a real joy to receive updates from our Bursary recipients as they progress.
“We’ve seen so many go on to great things – appearing on the West End and even on our screens.”
He added: ‘We are proud to open applications for the DCU Bursary once again and incredibly grateful to DQ Advocates for its continued support in helping the next generation of performers take that all-important next step.”
Performing Arts
DQ Advocates’ sponsorship has helped over 35 individuals access specialist training in the performing arts.

The bursary is open to those starting or continuing relevant courses from September 2025.
Applicants must submit a form by June 30 2025, with shortlisted candidates invited to discuss their plans with the DCU Committee.
Last year’s recipients, Hannah Clinton and Liam Behan, are studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and the London School of Musical Theatre, respectively.
