A senior nursing lecturer who worked on the island has been struck off the Nursing and Midwifery Council register for serious misconduct, including sexually motivated touching and bullying student nurses.
Henry Mutasa, was absent for a fitness to practise hearing held between 8-17 December 2025.
The panel found that he touched Student A’s breast and bum without consent in September 2019 and that this conduct was sexually motivated.
He was also found to have put his arms around Student B’s waist and placed his head on her shoulder.
Bullying
Further charges relating to May 2023 were proved, including that he bullied and intimidated Student C by raising his voice, banging his hands on a table, and preventing her from leaving a meeting.
He also disclosed her confidential application history to other students.
The panel concluded his fitness to practise was impaired and his “actions are fundamentally incompatible with him remaining on the register”.
The panel imposed a striking-off order and an 18-month interim suspension order to cover any appeal period.
Mr Mutasa had previously indicated in an email he was “no longer interested” in participating and had “no intention to ever apply to go back on the NMC register”.
