Infrastructure Minister Dr Michelle Haywood has revealed that 121 roads were closed in 2025 due to tree damage, a figure described by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse as the basis for “the best answer ever”.
In a Keys exchange, Dr Haywood confirmed that of the 121 closures, 46 were planned and 75 were “reactive emergency closures”.
Questioning further, Mr Moorhouse asked how many affected tree owners had received prior warnings from the Department or DEFA, and how many had contributed to closure costs.
However Dr Haywood said this isn’t information held by her department.
