Ramsey’s lifeboat launched just after midnight overnight to assist a yacht in difficulty 10 miles east of Douglas.
The ‘Ann and James Ritchie II’ under Coxswain Mark Kenyon located the casualty in a moderate swell and thick mist.
The station said: “The poor visibility required the use of VHF DF equipment due to the casualty presenting a poor radar target.
“After ascertaining that the two crew aboard were well it was decided that the poor visibility and proximity to the Douglas ferry route made towing the best solution to the situation.
“A tow was established by 01:35hrs and the vessel was towed to Douglas where it was put alongside just after 03:00hrs.
“The lifeboat remained with the casualty for a short time whilst a small ingress of water was investigated and addressed by its crew.”
