Staff from the Northern Civic Amenity site had to remove a bag from the burnable skip this morning (May 22) which contained live ammunition.
In a social media post, the site says that this ammunition could have been discharged within the skip during compaction causing serious consequences to staff and members of the public.
It asks members of the public to be mindful of what is being brought to the site for disposal and if unsure ask a member of staff for advice.
The Isle of Man constabulary safely removed the ammunition from the site.
