Peel and Glenfaba MHK Kate Lord-Brennan has announced she will not be standing for re-election in this year’s general election.
Ms Lord-Brennan has served eight years in Tynwald, first entering as an MLC in 2018, before being elected to the House of Keys in 2021.
She said the decision had been made “after a great deal of thought”, adding that while many people had encouraged her to stand again, she was “hugely grateful” for the trust shown but had already reached the conclusion privately some time ago.
Lord-Brennan described representing the constituency’s towns and villages as “a true privilege”, highlighting campaigns on local issues, national debates and detailed legislative work. She said her term had involved “significant outcomes” as well as “battles that were not won, but which needed to be fought”.
She confirmed she hopes to return to the private sector, while remaining engaged in public life and the future of the island. She also reiterated his belief that “meaningful reform” is needed across government and parliamentary institutions.
Reflecting on her time in office, she said the most important part of the role had been working closely with constituents, community groups, charities and schools, and thanked those who had supported her throughout.
“It has been my absolute pleasure and privilege to know you, to represent you and to work for you,” she said.
