Quarterbridge Road will be closed between Alexander Drive and Selbourne Drive from 8am this Sunday.
Although the closure is authorised until no later than 6pm, if works go to plan it is anticipated that the road will reopen by mid afternoon.
The DoI said the closure is to facilitate the safe felling of a dead roadside tree.
It added: “The closure has been deliberately requested and authorised for a Sunday to minimise disruption and to particularly avoid conflict with commercial and commuter traffic.”
