Major Road Will be One Way During Works

The main road from Castletown to Ballasalla will be one way while work is complete on a new roundabout and bypass.

Due to begin next year, the work will see a major reconstruction of the corner which will link the bypass with the roundabout on the New Castletown Road.

A drop-in session was held yesterday afternoon for residents in Ballasalla to discuss the latest plans for the junction.

Displays of the new road layout showed there would be two phases to the plans.

During construction, the road will become one way so people will be able to travel north past the airport and onto Douglas.

Those heading south will be diverted at the roundabout near the Whitestone Pub.

Speaking to Local Democracy Report Emma Draper, DoI Iinister Dr Michelle Haywood says the department is looking to start work next year and hopes it will take between six and nine months to complete:
