Sarah Maltby MHK says she is “proud to have been responsible” for bringing the World Downhill Skateboarding Championships to the island.
The Douglas South MHK and DfE Political Member with specific responsibility for Visit Isle of Man and Motorsport said “from the moment I heard about the WDSC I just knew we had to help the organising team make it happen.”
The three day event on Tholt-Y-Will got off to a rocky start with bad weather and injuries, however the last two days were more successful.

Maltby added: “This year was all about the organisers learning the quirks of island life, the logistics of getting here and building a community of volunteers to stage this most exciting event.
“They told me that they have never seen so many spectators and have received an ‘awesome welcome’ from everyone they have met and worked with.”
She says that organisers of the event “are really keen to come back next year”.
