Man Hid in Garden From Cops

A man has been handed a suspended sentence after admitting breaching a domestic abuse protection order.

Nicholas Fleming, 53, of no fixed abode, was sentenced by Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood.

The court heard that police were called to a house on the Old Castletown Road where they found Fleming hiding in the garden.

It was explained that he had gone to collect belongings from the house with the permission of the person he is ordered to stay away from.

However, while there a disagreement broke out and a third person rang the police.

Fleming, who said through his advocate he intends to the leave the island as soon as possible, was given a six week prison sentence suspend for 12 months.

As he has no way of paying, no prosecution costs were ordered.
