Manx Care is forecast to spend £28.3m more than its budget for the 2025/26 financial year, according to the latest government accounts.
The figure represents the total amount by which the Department of Health and Social Care’s mandate to Manx Care is expected to exceed its original budget.
The accounts note that within this total, Manx Care is forecasting an operational overspend of £10.8m, with additional operating plan cost pressures of £4.1m.
High-cost patients and specialist placements account for £9.3 million of forecast costs “noted as outside of operational net expenditure.”
The forecast includes a £10 million allocation from contingency funds.
As a result, the Department of Health and Social Care is expected to end the year £15.8 million over budget.
The report confirms: “The main driver of this position, as in prior years, is the cost of the mandate to Manx Care.”
A supplementary vote is expected to be brought to Tynwald no later than July.
Treasury net revenue and receipts, which include Income Tax and National Insurance, are anticipated to be ahead of budget and most departments are expected to end the year within budget.
