Manx riders enjoyed a successful weekend on the British Eventing circuit, with a series of confident performances at Penrith Horse Trials and Eland Lodge.
At Penrith Horse Trials, Sue Kirkpatrick and Tradhearg Cool Joules delivered one of the standout Manx results, finishing fourth in a competitive BE90 section.
The pair produced a smart dressage score of 31.8, added just one pole in the show jumping, and cruised home clear across country to secure their top‑five placing.
In the BE105, Jess Collister and Roosevelt claimed 14th place, jumping clear across country after a dressage mark of 32.5 and two show‑jumping poles.
Further Success
There was further success in the BE90, where Freya Cullen and RMS Thunderbantos finished 15th. Their weekend included a 31.5 dressage score, two show‑jumping poles, and a confident clear round across country.
In the BE100 Open Under‑18, Issy Ennett and Ballyvadd Sarco impressed with a 7th place finish. A 31.5 dressage test, just one pole in the show jumping, and a faultless cross‑country round secured a strong result for the young combination.
In the BE90 Under-18, Darcey Sutton jumped a double clear on Greystones Pilgrim to finish in 17th place after scoring a 32.5 dressage.
Eve McGeown made her British Eventing debut riding Cecelia’s Kompany in the GOBE80 section, she came 4th with a dressage score of 31.3 and jumped a double clear in the jumping phases.
Hannah Ripley and Carnsdale Tailor Made also made their BE debut. They also competed in the GOBE80 Section and after a good dressage score, the jumping didn’t quite go the way they would have wanted with Hannah’s horse feeling a little too well! But they learnt lots from the experience, and will no doubt be back on the British circuit soon.
Meanwhile, at Eland Lodge in Derbyshire, Rebecca Sowerby and Professor Higgins produced a superb double clear to finish 6th in their BE90 section, completing on their dressage score of 32.3.
