Manx Language Festival Goes Vooar!

The Cooish Manx language festival is going all out in celebration of Blein ny Gaelgey (the Year of the Manx Language).

Cooish Vooar (Big Cooish) will host 32 events across the Island from September 25-29.

Highlights include a talk by famous language YouTuber, RobWords, and a concert featuring multi-award winning Gaelic singers and musicians.

Many of the events are free to attend, though some still require booking. The festival includes events for beginners through to fluent speakers.

Educational charity Mooinjer Veggey will be organising a fun day for children on September 26 at the Peel Methodist Church between 11am and 4pm.

Tiffany Kerrush of Culture Vannin told Manx.News: “The festival is a wonderful opportunity to meet Manx speakers, hear Manx being spoken and join in with fun and relaxed activities with the language in use.”

Cooish Vooar is coordinated by Culture Vannin and sponsored by Island Escapes with support from the Domestic Event Fund.
