Manx Sailors Feature in Dockside Diaries

Two sailors from the island have featured in a ‘Dockside Diaries’ series about their sailing trip from the Isle of Man to the USA.

The series features sailors from around the world who’ve sailed to St. Marys Intracoastal Gateway Marina in Georgia, USA.

In the interview, Terry and Fiona Hill spoke fondly of the Isle of Man and discussed their travels so far, as well as their mission to get Sisu back to Manx waters.

Setting Sail

In late 2016, Terry and Fiona embarked on their journey to cross the Atlantic Ocean aboard their Rival 38 named Sisu.

The pair set sail from Peel to Cape Verde in August 2016, before making the 22 day sailing trip across the Atlantic Ocean to the Carribean.

Over the past nine years they have sailed much of Central America and are now making their way up the east coast of America.

Speaking on the series Fiona said: “We always fly our Manx flag which is regularly a curiosity as it’s not well known & we’ve had many, many conversations wherever we are anchored or moored, asking about our island.

“We’re happy to oblige! We would add that most people who know where the Isle of Man is due to the world wide fame of our TT Races.”
