Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch (MWDW) has opened a new headquarters on Michael Street, creating a fresh hub for anyone interested in the island’s marine wildlife.
The charity has moved from its former visitor centre at 31 Michael Street to a smaller, rebranded MWDW Info Centre at No. 23, now located inside Cranky’s Café Shop.
The new space is designed to offer a relaxed setting where visitors can learn about whales, dolphins, porpoises and basking sharks while enjoying a drink and slice of cake.
New Base
With a more compact base, MWDW says it will focus on sharing information about local species, where to spot them and recent sightings.
The centre will be open whenever the café is open, ensuring consistent hours even when the team is out on fieldwork.
The official opening takes place this Saturday, February 28, from 10am to 3pm, with everyone welcome to drop in.
Regular opening hours will follow café times: Mon–Tues: 10am–3pm Weds: Closed Thurs–Sat: 10am–3pm Sun: Closed
MWDW says the new setup offers a cosy way for people to discover more about the island’s rich marine life.
