Mary Phillips has formally declared her intention to stand as a candidate for Ayre and Michael in this September’s General Election for the House of Keys.
Phillips, who was born and raised on the Isle of Man, said the island had shaped her values, outlook and commitment to public service.
As a younger candidate, she said she recognised both the responsibility and the opportunity that came with stepping forward at this stage in her life, adding that a broad mix of voices and generations strengthened representation in Tynwald.
She said her aim in standing was to serve as a “fair, trusted, loyal and reliable” representative for the constituency. Her priority, she said, would be to listen to residents, understand the issues that matter to them, and ensure those concerns are raised “with truth, diligence and respect”.
Phillips said she was committed to working constructively with people of all backgrounds and viewpoints, and to contributing positively to the Island’s future. She described herself as direct, practical and honest, highlighting her resilience and life experience as qualities she would bring to the role.
She said she was making her declaration “in good faith, with sincerity, and with a genuine desire to represent my community to the very best of my ability”.
