Isle of Man Meats says it’s new journey has begun and hopes 2025 is a year of “opportunity and growth”.
The government-owned meat plant came under high scrutiny last year with delays, breakdowns and meat disposals.
At the latter end of 2024, former managing director of the plant Rebecca Miah quit, as did the rest of the former board of directors, except for Allan Skillicorn.
Whilst the managing director role has not been refilled, Damien Corcoran swooped in as new the chair of the board replacing Nigel Davis.
Joining him on the board is Dr Jonathan Birnie, Robert Teare, Andy McKeown, Philip Birnie and Allan Skillicorn.
New Journey
In a social media post the meat plant says that its new era “isn’t about quick wins, it’s about real progress”.
IOM Meats says that its lack of social media presence is due to the work that is being done “behind the scenes”.
It added that: “Right now, our focus is on getting the basics right, and we’ll keep you updated on the progress we make and what’s happening at the plant. 2025 is about getting our house in order, improving our service, and building something we can all be proud of.
“This isn’t about quick wins, it’s about real progress.”
Rebuilding
Manx producers admitted they’d lost faith in the plant, and that the trust between producer and plant had diminished.
The plant’s social media has undergone a black and white transformation, with positive messages attached.
It says: “No frills, no distractions – just the hard work of rebuilding.
“We’re focused on structure, service and standards. It’s a journey, not a race, and every step forward counts.”
