Three Manx students did themselves proud at the English Schools Race Walking Championships held at Northwood Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent.
The trio of Lilee Fletcher, Tim Perry and Amy Surgeon all performed superbly at the 50th Anniversary of this event.
In the U13 1500 metres race for both boys and girls Lilee was in dominant form, pulling further and further clear of the field including the boys.
Last Saturday, she set a very impressive new personal best time of 7:38.31 to win by around 40 seconds and take the gold medal.
Young Race Walkers
The U15 2000 metres mixed race featured Tim Perry and Amy Surgeon.
By the second lap of the 400 metres track Tim had pulled away from his main rival Trejan Checkuku Boamah (a visitor to the Isle of Man for the recent race walk meeting at the NSC).
Thereafter he controlled the race with excellent technique to clinch the gold medal in a new IOM age group record time of 10:16.99.
In a very competitive U15 Girls race Amy walked very strongly to take the bronze medal in a time just outside 12 minutes – another personal best.
