Tynwald members will pay £1,140 a year for car parking, the DoI has confirmed.
However, after a vote by the Legislative Council, it will not be brought in just yet.
The new policy outlines parking privileges for elected members, including access to a dedicated area in the secured underground car park at Government Offices and free parking at other government office car parks.
The policy would apply to all Tynwald Members, including elected members of the House of Keys and the Legislative Council, but excludes officers or staff.
Parking will be permitted in unallocated spaces at government buildings, including staff parking areas at the Airport for business use only.

Responding to an FoI request, the DoI stated, “A maximum of one parking permit per member will be issued. They may not be copied and they are only for the use of the member.”
The annual fee of £1,140 for 2025 can be paid in full or via monthly instalments of £95, deducted in advance from members’ pay.
The DoI confirmed, “Part years will be charged pro rata. There will be no discounts or exceptions.”
Enforcement will be handled through fixed penalty notices, with the DoI responsible for monitoring compliance.
MLCs
When the issue was voted on in Tynwald in July, from a motion brought by Kate Lord-Brennan MHK, an amendment was proposed by DoI Minister Dr Michelle Haywood.
That amendment was to give time to work the “introduction of an additional charging regime based on use which reflects modern working practices”.
However, as that was backed by Keys but rejected by MLCs, the issue will have to go back to Tynwald for a combined vote in October.
