A southern MHK who supports the development of a windfarm at Earystane, has admitted that property values may be affected by the proposed scheme.

Stress
Dr Heywood said in a post on social media, she understands the stress and that some people may need to move. She also admitted that there may be a future impact on the value of people’s assets.
Property values already dropped
Residents in the area claim they have already been told by estate agents that their property values have been affected.
One resident claimed a local estate agent withdrew from marketing their property as they were ‘compromised’.
Kirrie Jenkins is another resident and lives only metres from the boundary of the proposed site. Mrs Jenkins has been spearheading a campaign against the the proposed development at Earystane.
Meanwhile the owner of a holiday cottage and an experienced ornithologist says that bird life in the area is in great danger from the proposals. John Corteen has been tracking birds of prey in the area for many years.
Mr Corteen spoke to local radio station Energy FM and shared film of some of the birds regularly seen in the area.
Dr Heywood however continues to support Manx Utilities proposals for a windfarm in the south and claims she is lobbying hard for financial help to be offered.
We have reached out to Dr Heywood to ask her for details of who she has been lobbying and what sort of scheme she is proposing.
An attempt to have the scheme stopped failed in November, when one of the MHK’s for the area, Tim Glover asked for it to be halted in Tynwald
