Ramsey Town Commissioners has unveiled the latest completed shelter in the Mooragh Park Shelter Art Project, a vibrant forest scene by local artist Michelle Bartle of Element Design.
This marks the fifth of ten shelters to be transformed, bringing colour and creativity to the park.
Located in the children’s play area, Michelle’s mural features a magical woodland with frogs, mushrooms, and fairies. The project is notable as the artist self-funded the work, highlighting local commitment to public art.
Michelle said: “It was an amazing opportunity to take part in this project. Ramsey is really coming to life with all the incredible artwork around the town.
“I trained as a painter and decorator almost 40 years ago and still work as one today. I’ve always had a passion for art and interior design. To be able to take part in this project and do something for the community was very fulfilling.
“It was lovely to hear the children and parents comments whilst I worked on the shelter. I based my mural around a fantasy woodland, nothing is to scale as it’s make believe. I hope it inspires tales of giant snails, grumpy toads and of course fairies.”
Commissioner Juan McGuinness, who proposed the initiative, said: “Each of these murals brings something unique to the park, and Michelle’s design is full of charm and imagination.
“It’s a joyful and playful addition that we hope will capture the imaginations of children and families alike. We’re incredibly grateful to Michelle for self-funding this piece, her generosity and creativity are a real gift to the town.”
