Miners and Tangerines to Contest Final

Foxdale will face Ayre Utd in the FA Cup final on Easter Saturday after both sides won exciting semi finals over the weekend.

Andy Ball was the hero for Foxdale as he made two saves in a penalty shootout against holders Rushen while Ayre edged past Union Mills.

The Spaniards, who won the cup last season, led 1-0 on Saturday through Ste Riding’s goal before a brace from Jamie Cadwallader looked to have killed the game in the 62nd minute with the score at 3-0.

However, the Miners ensured that cliches could be used as they dug deep to find a way back into the game through Liam Cannan.

With just under 10 minutes left Jay Chatwood to set up a tense finale before Lee Gale made it 3-3 in the dying moments from the spot.

After extra time couldn’t separate the sides, Andy Ball rose to the occasional in the shootout as he saved from Aaron Hawley, Matty Lamb and Jack Gilbert to send the Miners through to the final.

Tangerines

Ayre led 2-0 at HT in their semi final against Union Mills thanks to goals from Elliot Cureton and Harry Best.

Mills fought back in the second half to make it 2-2 before Leo Tregurtha restored their lead to make it 2-3.

Despite this, Mills fought back again to make it 3-3 and send the game to extra time.

Skipper Jamie Callister stepped up for Ayre to score late in the second period of extra time to send book Ayre into the Easter Saturday final.

We don’t have the Union Mills scorers, but will update once we do.
