The DoI Minister says she has reported a matter involving a suggestion MHKs could be removed from office via shotgun to the Police.
Dr Michelle Haywood, who has been targeted on social media in recent weeks beyond what could be considered fair criticism of her department’s policies, shared a photo of the poll on her Facebook page on Saturday.
Largely due to the controversial plans to introduce more 20mph zones across the island, Dr Haywood has been personally attacked on Facebook pages in a way that goes far beyond opposition to her politics or the DoI’s general reputation and plans.
The poll was started on a Facebook page which operates as a petition to remove Dr Haywood from the DoI and initially focussed on the question “does a way exist to remove a sitting MHK by means other than an election?”.
While that poll originally just yes or no, a resident added a third option “Shotgun”, presumably as a poor attempt at humour.
Dr Haywood said: “It’s fine to start up a petition to have me sacked. Free speech and all that. But is it ok to suggest that MHKs should be removed with a shotgun?
“How does anyone think this is acceptable? 
It’s much less funny than the Airport April Fools story. It has been reported to the Police.”

Dr Haywood has seemed to addres the issue of the petition saying, on a separate detailing more entirely inappropriate personal abuse, that some who have signed it “are DoI employees”.
She added: “They have clearly broken the social media policy that covers all government employees. Last week the whole department
was reminded about the policy.
“Next week I expect some people will be meeting with their line managers and having some tough conversations. In the private sector they would be immediately dismissed.”
