Manx National Heritage has retained its professional Museum Accreditation status, with ten of its sites formally re‑accredited under the UK Museum Accreditation Scheme.
The scheme, managed by Arts Council England, is the UK sector’s benchmark for museum excellence, recognising organisations that meet nationally agreed standards in governance, collections care, visitor experience and organisational management.
Following an 18‑month assessment process, accreditation was renewed for the Manx Museum, Castle Rushen, Cregneash, Old Grammar School, Rushen Abbey, Laxey Wheel, The Grove Museum, House of Manannan, Nautical Museum and the Old House of Keys.
Arts Council England said the achievement reflects the professionalism and dedication of the Manx National Heritage team and its commitment to protecting and sharing the island’s heritage.
MNH leaders described the renewal as a significant endorsement of the organisation’s behind‑the‑scenes work in conservation, collections management, visitor engagement and governance.
Accreditation connects MNH to a UK‑wide network of recognised museums and reinforces its commitment to best practice, continuous improvement and ensuring the Isle of Man’s heritage is preserved and shared for future generations.
