A prison officer has announced he will stand for the House of Keys in this summer’s General Election for the Middle constituency.
Jason Moore is the second candidate to declare for the constituency.
Describing himself as “a proud Manx man with passion and determination to make our island succeed and to take us forward”, Mr Moore outlined a platform focused on healthcare, housing and food security.
He said: “We need healthcare reform, housing security and better food security. All of which we are massively lacking in and we must do better.”
Mr Moore, who works in the island’s prison service, pledged a straightforward approach to representation.
He added: “My commitment is simple: put the needs of our island first. Not vanity. Not waste. Not short term applause. But real lasting improvements that benefit the people who are lucky enough to call this island home.”
The candidate said he looked forward to engaging with constituents in the coming months.
He joins surgeon Andre Risha in declaring for the seat.
Sitting MHKs Stu Peters and Jane Poole-Wilson have not yet announced their intentions regarding the election, which will be held on Thursday September 24.
