The Isle of Man’s new Information Commissioner is due to start her role in the early autumn.
The appointment of Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya for a term of up to five years was approved at the June sitting of Tynwald.
Delaney-Bhattacharya is currently Head of Delivery (Projects and Governance), deployed into the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum from the UK Information Commissioner’s Office where she has held several roles since 2018.
She has extensive experience of working with government, regulatory, international and industry stakeholders.
Privately, she has just completed a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies at Birmingham City University.
The role of Information Commissioner champions information rights and data protection by providing independent oversight of operation and enforcement of the Island’s information rights legislation.
