Rob Callister MHK has says a pole installed by a contractor was incorrectly placed and must be rectified at no cost to the taxpayer.
He told constituents he had received word from the Chief Executive of the DoI after complaints were made about its positioning.
He added: “This misplacement is classified as a defect under the contract, and the contractor has been duly notified. It is their responsibility to rectify this issue at no cost to the Department.”
Mr Callister added: “The Chief Executive also indicated that any additional poles that have been installed may need to accommodate signs reflecting a new speed limit or repeater signs for existing limits, depending on the outcome of the consultation.”
The MHK stressed that work should not have started before the consultation closes on July 4 2025.
He further called for proper engagement before any further action, saying: “Furthermore, I asserted that any subsequent actions should only take place after meaningful engagement with the local authority and elected representatives, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the feedback and information gathered from the local community.”
