This week’s night time closures of Millennium Lifting Bridge have been postponed due to wind conditions.
The closures this week were to enable inspection and maintenance works to the harbour flap gate.
It included the requirement to lift stop logs into place, to retain water in the harbour basin whilst the the flap gate is lowered for inspection at low tide.
Monday and Tuesday night closures were postponed due to wind speeds being too high to safely crane the stop logs in and out of the harbour.
The DoI said that this work is not time critical and it will be rescheduled for later in the year.
