No Formal Offer for Bus Reinstatement

Plans to reinstate a bus service to Cregneash remain under discussion, but no formal financial support has been agreed, Infrastructure Minister Dr Michelle Haywood has told MHKs.

Responding to a question from Jason Moorhouse MHK, Dr Haywood stated that “no formal discussions have taken place with local authorities regarding financial support for a bus service”.

She acknowledged ongoing talks with the Department for Enterprise and Visit Isle of Man but added, “no agreement has been achieved.”

Support

Mr Moorhouse pressed for clarity, citing claims from Arbory and Rushen commissioners that support was available.

Dr Haywood said “those comments made through the media have not formulated themselves as formal communications to the department” adding that no direct offer has been received.

Chris Thomas MHK suggested a minibus service from Port St Mary to Cregneash, but Dr Haywood noted demand from Port Erin complicates matters.

Officers are exploring options, including timetable adjustments and vehicle availability, though no timeline was given.
