A freedom of information response from the Land Registry shows 243 first‑registration applications were awaiting registration as of April 24, 2026.
The Registry said it is currently unable to provide an average processing time due to technical issues following an IT system upgrade in October 2025.
These issues have prevented updates to the public performance dashboard, though work to restore access is ongoing. Historic data on the dashboard shows average processing times of 94 days in July 2024, 64 days in January 2025, and 59 days in July 2025.
Four applications are over a year old, including one boundary rectification case and three first‑registration applications.
The five oldest active cases involve boundary disputes, objections, or applications dependent on neighbouring titles, with some matters now referred to the Land Commissioner.
As of April 21, 2026, 28.59% of the Island’s land area had been first registered, equivalent to 16,359.6 hectares.
While much of the island remains unregistered, the Registry says that since mid‑2020, most monthly land transactions now involve already‑registered land.
