Over 4,500 Respond to Ferry Consultation

The Steam Packet received more than 4,500 responses to its consultation over a replacement for Manannan.

Over 2,000 arrived in the first 12 hours alone.

While full analysis is now underway, the company says early results show clear priorities.

These include a demand for reliable all-year and all-weather operations, and strong support for a year-round Liverpool route.

Travel time was also a major factor, with many stressing the importance of maintaining the twice-daily Manannan summer service.

The company said the feedback “demonstrates the vital importance of sea links” to the community.

The consultation also attracted wide engagement, with roughly 30% of responses coming from off-island individuals including visitors, former residents, and business travellers.

A Steam Packet spokesperson said: “A full analysis of all submissions will be completed now the consultation has closed.

“The company has committed to publishing a public summary of the findings, reinforcing its transparent approach to planning the Island’s ferry services.”
