A section of Sulby Straight will be closed next Saturday while several large dead and diseased trees are felled.
The trees being felled along the hedgerow beside St Stephen’s Meadow, opposite Sulby School and Sulby Methodist Chapel.
The work, carried out by an arborist on behalf of a private landowner, will take place between 9am and 4pm on March 28.
The trees are being removed because they have become increasingly vulnerable to falling in windy weather.
Diversion
Through‑traffic will be diverted via Clenagh Road, Sandygate Road and St Jude’s Road. The usual weight limit on Clenagh Road will be suspended for the duration of the closure.
Although the route through Sulby Claddagh will remain open, motorists are advised to follow the marked diversion. The Claddagh bridge has a 5‑tonne weight limit, meaning all HGVs must use the official diversion route.
Residents living on Sulby Straight north of Sulby Primary School will still be able to access their homes via Sulby Bridge.
