Physiotherapy Service Expands Into the Community

Manx Care’s Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatients Physiotherapy Service has once again expanded out to two community sites.

The service had been centralised to the Central Community Health Centre, Douglas, as a result of Covid-19 and staff vacancies, but due to successful recruitment, the team has now been able to expand to Thie Rosien (Port Erin) and Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital.

The aim of the MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy service is to provide care and treatment to all patients who have a MSK condition.

The service ensures timely management of MSK conditions, enhancing patients’ function and return to work. Patients are provided with information, treatment and support with goal-setting.

MSK Physiotherapy Service

The service is accessed by referral from GP services or Allied Health Professionals.

Once the MSK Physiotherapy Service has received the referral and the patient is at the top of the waiting list, they will be invited by letter to make an appointment, at which time they will be able to choose the location that best suits them.

The service operates between 8am – 4:30pm from Monday to Friday.
