The Queens Pier Restoration Trust has received a significant festive boost with an £80,000 donation from the Alan Chinery Charitable Trust.
The grant will fully sponsor the restoration of Bay 11 of the historic structure.
Alan Chinery, who formed the trust, retired to Ramsey in 1971. He was a well-known local figure with a lifelong interest in railways, occasionally driving the train on the Queens Pier.
Roger Corkhill, a trustee of the Alan Chinery Charitable Trust, initially contacted the pier trust earlier this year to inquire about sponsoring a bay.
The Queens Pier Restoration Trust stated: “The Chairman, Trustees and all Volunteers at the Pier wish to thank the trustees of the Alan Chinery Charitable Trust for this magnificent gesture. Christmas has been truly gracious to us this year.”
