Plan Walks Accordingly

A number of glens and forests on the island remain closed, and people are asked to plan trips accordingly.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture have asked people to respect closures, and follow all safety signage as it works to clear hazards and restore public access.

A list has been published of the open and closed glens, forests and trails.

Manx National Glens

  • Ballaglass Glen – Open.
  • Ballure Walk – Open.
  • Bishopscourt Glen – Open.
  • Bradda Glen and Headland – Open.
  • Colby Glen – Restrictions in place. The top Entrance is open with access to Public Right of Way from the north end of the Glen.
  • Dhoon Glen – Open.
  • Elfin Glen & Claughbane Woods & Lhergy Frissel – Open.
  • Glen Helen – Open.
  • Glen Maye – Open.
  • Glen Mooar – CLOSED (Spooyt Vane waterfall is accessible via the top entrance from Ballaleigh Road).
  • Glen Wyllin – Open.
  • Groudle Glen – Some restrictions in place. Down stream of viaduct is open. The section is closed between the viaduct and housing estate upstream.
  • Laxey Glen – Open.
  • Molly Quirk’s Glen – CLOSED * * Bibaloe Walk Open
  • Port Soderick – Open.
  • Silverdale Glen – Restrictions in place. The upper Glen is open. Lower Glen is Closed.
  • Tholt-y-Will Glen – CLOSED

Gardens and Parks

  • St. Johns National Arboretum – Open
  • The Raggatt – Open
  • Garey ny Cloie Gardens – Open

Plantations

  • Archallagan Plantation – CLOSED. DEFA are working towards opening restricted access as soon as possible.
  • Conrhenny Community Woodland – Some restrictions in place. The Mountain Bike Trails are Closed.
  • South Barrule Forest – Some restrictions in place. The Mountain Bike Trails are Closed.
  • Smaller loop walks are available from Coffee Cottage and Salomons corner sides.
