Plans For 153 Homes Approved

Ramsey planning application 153 homes

Hartford Homes’ plans to build a new estate on the outskirts of Ramsey have been unanimously approved by planners.

The application for 153 homes at Vollan Fields, East Of Royal Park and off Andreas Road, was approved with 37 conditions attached.

Planners heard from objectors who said the plans contained insufficient drainage and that would mean some houses “may even be uninsurable”.

He added that the area most at risk was the part of the plans which are designated for first time buyer homes.

However, a representative from HH said that company would remove 89% of runoff water without a significant impact on neighbouring sites.

He added that the use of French drains, which would eventually become the responsibility of the home owners, would help to “eliminate any risk” of flooding.

Committee member Peter Whiteway said he was surprised the site contained a principle approval for a primary school, saying he was “not convinced it will ever happen”.

Chairman Rob Callister MHK agreed and noted that if the school is not brought forward in the coming years, then a new application would be needed to find a use for the site.

A representative from the Department of Infrastructure also confirmed it had no issue with up to 300 additional cars being on the roads.
