A new community playgroup, Willow & Waves, has submitted a planning application to open in the Guild Room of Peel Methodist Hall, aiming to address a critical lack of local childcare.
With 28 children already on its waiting list and existing nurseries in Peel at capacity, the company says there is a clear need for support.
The setting will be term-time only, operating from 9am to 4pm for a maximum of 16 pre-school children, with a separate breakfast club for school-aged children.
The company said: “We are committed to being good neighbours and will ensure that outdoor play is managed carefully, with staff supervision.”
Outdoor play will be limited to short periods between 11am and 4pm.
To mitigate parking concerns, drop-off and collection times will be staggered, while its planning documents show a parent survey found 86.4% of respondents would typically walk.
The application notes that three nearby public car parks are available for those who drive.
