Plans Submitted For NSC Solar Panels

Plans to put around 1,200 solar panels on the roof of the NSC have been submitted by Manx Utilities.

The panels would sit on the main building and rise no more than 200mm above the roof.

The electricity would feed straight into a Manx Utilities substation inside the south east corner of the building.

The aim, according to the planning statement, is “to generate renewable electricity for export directly to the Manx Utilities power system” and “to support the government objectives for decarbonisation and energy resilience”.

The application argues the panels will be hard to see from the ground and the application says the plan has “negligible visual, environmental and amenity impact”.
