Politicians in Northern Ireland are calling for Michael Dunlop to be officially honoured for his talent and success in road racing.
Emma Little-Pengelly MLA has attended the Legislative Assembly to support Stephen Dunne MLA’s recognition of the success of Michael Dunlop.
Members of the Legislative Assembly are elected by, and represent the people of, Northern Ireland.
Dunlop Honoured
Michael Dunlop, the most successful rider in TT history, has had a directional board on the TT course erected in his honour.
The newly named left-hand bend, ‘MD’s’, at the 27th milestone commemorates Dunlop’s record-breaking 27th victory in 2024 – surpassing his uncle Joey Dunlop’s long-standing tally of 26 wins.
Joey Dunlop’s record had stood for 24 years until MD’s historic 2024 campaign saw him claim four victories to reach 29 wins overall.
The ‘MD’s’ board now places him alongside TT greats like Agostini, Hailwood and McGuinness in having permanent recognition on the Mountain Course.
