Poppy Walking 30 Miles For GNAAS

A Cavalier King Charles named Poppy is walking 30 miles in May to raise vital funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

11-year-old Poppy was incredibly poorly last year and developed a serious sleep apnea condition requiring travel off island for life-saving treatment and surgeries.

Poppy’s owner, Laura said: “It was touch and go, and after a whole year of her being incredibly weak, trying to recover and undergoing experimental medication, she has come out of the other side despite everyone expecting her not to make it, and here she is taking part in Whirlybird Walkies!”

Poppy’s Mission

Laura added: “Because of what Poppy experienced we know all too well what it is like to have to travel for imperative life saving care, and with all of the issues currently challenging the Air Ambulance’s future, we signed up to the walking challenge to fundraise for them and hopefully do our bit to help.”

With May not quite over, Poppy has already smashed her goal of 30 miles, and is setting her sights on even more miles.
