Proposal for Indoor Play Centre

The owners of Tynwald Mills have submitted plans to convert one of its stores into an indoor play area.

If approved by planners, the centre would be able to host children’s parties.

Tynwald Mills (IOM) Ltd’s application said it has found that its customers “expressed the need for children’s activities to complement the existing retail provision and make the centre more attractive to young families”.

It said: “The proposal is to create an indoor play area by utilising the same internal layout and providing soft play installations as well as areas of seating.

“Minimal internal alteration is required apart from adapting one existing storeroom and one staff WC to create two toilet cubicle and baby change facilities for the use of customers to the play area. It is noted that these toilets are in addition to the existing WC’s located elsewhere throughout the centre, including provision for disabled users.”

As part of the application, an external fire escape would also be added to the first floor.
